The best local baker/bakers will win an Afternoon Tea Street Party including all the tableware and bunting for 50 guests on their street on the 6th of June. And it includes a helping hand from the company’s founder, bakers, author and local entrepreneur Greg Wixted. The winner will also be crowned Top Bakers and get one of their cherished Top Baker Aprons, 4 will be specially made for the occasion, The winning recipes will be published in their next Bakers Annual Cookbook and if that wasn’t enough the winner/s also get £250 of bakeware & baking goodies compliments of The Bakers Bundle an online baking wholesaler.

Greg WIxted, Founder commented, As a purpose driven business, we have a duty to put  people before profits and shareholders, part of our purpose is to help our local communities and promote wellbeing, diversity and culture.  And nothing brings a community together more so than Royal Jubilee Street Party.  This June its estimated 10 million people joining the Big Jubilee Lunch, we wanted to do something amazing for our local community. So, giving our home Ealing its own version of our national competition felt like the right thing to do. Our boxes are created for bakers of skill levels, so everyone can join in to create some amazing baked treats to celebrate Queen Elizabeth historic seventy-year reign".

The baking box comes complete with a full baking schedule and event planner so there is no hassle or stress when it comes to making this amazing afternoon tea menu and of course Greg will be on hand to help. The box is based on some of her HM the Queen’s favourite recipes including: The famous Clarence House Chocolate Biscuit cake, Mini Victoria Sponges with strawberry Jam & Buttercream, Union Jack Cupcakes, The Jubilee Cupcakes (created by the in-house baking team) Traditional Fruit and Plain Scones & Jam and clotted cream, Union Jack shortbreads and bread mix to create mini bread rolls suitable for finger sandwiches which will be made by the Britain Loves Baking’s team.

The innovative idea was jumped on by several charities who are using our Afternoon Tea Box as fund raising activity by throwing a World Record Breaking Afternoon Tea which is held by car company Mercedes in China with 1088 people, to beat it and return the record to the UK would be a very fitting tribute to HM the Queen in her Jubilee Year.

Residents can enter the Britain Loves Baking Local Baking Hero; s competition on our website here and is open now until the 5th of May. Local companies, suppliers that would like to talk to us about the world record should drop us a not on thebakers@britainlovesbaking.com
